In May, Avo founded Tradehouse Ltd. His first sales experience started off in a small wholesale business that initially marketed only one sales item – the Wrigley's chewing gum. Kivimaa drove to shops in Zhiguli, its trunk being loaded with boxes of chewing gums, and kept on selling.
Tradehouse online store was launched, the first product in range were hairdressing scissors. Various other hair accessories soon joined the menu, from curlers to hair clippers. Initially, the goods were stored in the Kivimaa’s four-room rental apartment in Lasnamäe, Tallinn. Hair curlers were stored in childrens’ room. Avo Kivimaa started to offer products to hairdressing salons.
Tradehouse opened its first store in Pro Kapital building in Tallinn on International Women’s Day. It was a relatively new beauty supply concept shop in Estonia at that time, offering beauty products to both beauty professionals and retail customers.

"Purchasing a professional shampoo was a quite a big thing at that time," recalls Kivimaa the year 2004, when professional hair care products made their first appearance at Tradehouse.
